SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION


UNITED STATES JCI SENATE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
$1000 grants for graduating high school seniors planning to attend an accredited post-secondary college, university or vocational school. You may pick up an application in the office or on line at www.iajcisenate.org. DEADLINE: January 6, 2008.

SAM WALTON COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP
$1000 nonrenewable award for the first year of undergraduate study at an approved accredited college or university. You may NOT be a Wal-Mart or Sam’s Club associate or the child/legal dependent of a Wal-Mart or Sam’s Club employee. Applications and other information available at www.walmartfoundation.org. DEADLINE: January 14, 2008.

DR. GEORGE I. AND EUNICE A. TICE SCHOLARSHIP AND EDUCATIONAL FUND
The applicant must be enrolled and/or accepted into a program pursuing a medical field. You may pick up an application in the office or at www.mercynorthiowa.com and click on education. DEADLINE: January 18, 2008.

STRAYER-RAIRDEN SCHOLARSHIP IN PHYSICS AT UNIVERSITY OF IOWA
$1000 grant renewable for up to 3 successive years based on academic merit, not financial need. You may pick up an application in the office or at www.physics.uiowa.edu/scholarship/strayer-rairden/. DEADLINE: January 31, 2008.

WILL F. MUSE SCHOLARSHIP
$1300 scholarship on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, and moral character with preference given to residents of Cerro Gordo Co. You may apply online at www.niacc.edu or get an application in the office. DEADLINE: February 1, 2008.

2008 CHRISTINA HIXSON OPPORTUNITY AWARD AT ISU
$10,000 ($2,500 annually) to a student in each of Iowa’s counties. You may get information and application materials at www.dso.iastate.edu/hixon/application/ DEADLINE: February 1, 2008.

BURGER KING SCHOLARS PROGRAM
$1000 for college or vocational/technical school. Applications and other information are available at www.bk.com/scholars. DEADLINE: February 15, 2008.

IOWA ENGINEERING SOCIETY NORTH IOWA CHAPTER
$1,000 to those pursuing an engineering degree. Applicants receiving an Iowa Engineering society Chapter scholarship who decides to attend ISU or U of I will most likely also receive a matching scholarship from their College of Engineering. You may pick up an application in the office. DEADLINE: February 28. 2007.

MONEY TO LEARN
Partners In Education scholarship for seniors attending NIACC. Criteria include an ACT of at least 20 and in the upper third of the class. A 200-250 word essay on the topic “How has my school prepared me for future success” is part of the application process. An application is available in the office. DEADLINE: February 29, 2008.

MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP AT UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT OMAHA

MAXYIELD COOPERATIVE
Five $500 scholarships to full time students in pursuit of agricultural curriculum. Must be a MaxYield Coop client or dependent of a MaxYield client. Applications and further information available in the office. DEAD LINE: March 3, 2008.

NIACC PRESIDENT’S SCHOLARSHIP
No application is needed. The scholarship is automatically awarded to seniors enrolling at NIACC full-time. Categories are: ACT 23-27 award $ 500
ACT 28-30 award $1000
ACT 31-36 award $1500
DEADLINE: there is no deadline.

NIAAC TRUSTEE’S SCHOLARSHIP
No application is needed. Seniors need only to apply and send transcript to office. Valedictorians and salutatorians are eligible for full-tuition scholarships. DEADLINE: there is no deadline.

NIACC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
There is a variety of awards given by the Foundation with different award amounts and criteria for eligibility. You may get more information in the office or at www.niacc.edu/foundation/scholarships.html. DEADLINE: March 1, 2008.

NIACC RESIDENCE HALL SCHOLARSHIP
$500 toward room and board, if living in NIACC dorms. Applications are available at www.niacc.edu.admission/campus/index.html. DEADLINE: March 1, 2008.

THE PRINCIPAL IT SCHOLARSHIP
$10,000 given $2,500 per year for students with a 3.25 GPA pursing a career in Computer Science, MIS, CIS, Computer Programming or related field of study. More information is available in the office. Applications are available on line at www.principal.com/careers/scholarships.htm DEADLINE: March 15, 2008.

IOWA BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION BROADCAST SCHOLARSHIPS
$16,000 given $4,000 per year for students interested in a career in radio or television. Applications are available at sss.iowabroadcasters.com. DEADLINE: April 1, 2008.

FIDM/THE FASHION INSTITUTE OF DESIGN AND MERCHANDISING
This scholarship is for students interested in Fashion Design, Visual Communications, Interior Design, Digital Media, Fashion Merchandising or Graphic Design. You may get information and applications at www.FIDM.edu. DEADLINE: April 30, 2008.

IOWA NEWSPAPER FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships range from $500-1,000 for students preparing for a newspaper career. Applications are available at www.inanews.com/inf/scholarships.hp. DEADLINE: February 15, 2008.

PEARL HULL FALK SCHOLARSHIP
$400.00 paid $200 each semester. Criteria information and applications are available in the office. DEADLINE: May 1, 2008.

VEISHEA SCHOARS PROGRAM
Leadership and Community Involvement Scholarships in the amount of $500 each for students entering ISU next fall. You may get information and applications in the office. DEADLINE: February 4, 2008.
